I create these images using a high-resolution scanner to generate the initial image. I then import the image into Photoshop where I clean, enhance and simplify the image. Because of the high resolution, I can then output the images to relatively large sizes, as much as five or six feet across for an image that started out an inch or two across.
My subjects for these pictures are the natural minutia I find as I spend time on our 18 acres of meadows and woods, my "studio" as it were.
While the process and final product of these pieces is somewhat photographic in nature, I prefer to refer to them as digital images since there is no camera involved.
